Central Receiver Systems
Central Receiver Systems are large-scale power plants in which large two-axis tracking mirrors, or heliostats, concentrate direct solar radiation and reflect it onto a receiver at the top of a centrally located tower. The solar energy is converted into thermal energy in the receiver, and transferred to a heat transfer fluid (air, molten salt, water/steam), which in turn, drives a conventional steam turbine, connected to a generator.
